Library to host eclipse chaser
There is most certainly something called an "eclipse chaser" and someone who does it will be at the Molalla Public Library on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 6 p.m.
Dr. Kate Russo will be the featured speaker. Originally from Australia, but now based in the U.K., Russo chases ecplises across the globe. Her third book, "Being in the Shadow: Stories for the First-Time Total Eclipse Experience," came out in June 2017.
"I think this is a great opportunity for people to gain a better understanding of what they saw during the recent total solar eclipse, and possibly a good chance for them to swap stories of the experience, as well," said Devon Seale, who's in charge of teen and adult programming at the library.
Russo is an author, psychologist and eclipse chaser. She has chased 11 total eclipses around the world, and as a psychologist researches and publishes books on the total eclipse experience. She also helps communities prepare for the total eclipse.
She was featured heavily in the media in the last few months sharing the excitement of totality, and did several live major news broadcasts on eclipse day.
Russo is a highly regarded speaker, and is now touring along the path of totality helping people make sense of what we have all just experienced.
