Starting May 15 and running through the 19th, Molalla High School art students will hold their second annual Art Appreciation Week.
Highlighting the week will be an Art Show on May 17 featuring both students' and local artists' work.
"This will be our second year doing Art Appreciation Week," said Cole Bauge, the school's ASB secretary. "Last year we came up with this idea in order to recognize more than just sports in our community. We wanted to find a fun way to engage all students and staff. As a result, we had community members, staff, high school students, and youth submit various works of art into our Art Show."
This year the Art Show will be held from 5-7 p.m. on May 17 in the high school commons.
"There will be lots of art and free food, along with awards for the winning artists," Bauge said. "Throughout Art Appreciation Week itself, we will be having a luncheon with choir, band, and drama to recognize them for their great talent. Along with this, we will be having announcements each day to display some of the accomplishments of our art programs. We would love to have the community come to this year's Art Show to support our Art Appreciation Week."
