A man in a black pickup tried to get an 8th grade girl from Molalla River Middle School into his pickup truck while she was walking to a friend's house after school Thursday.
Molalla River Middle School Principal Mike Nelsen sent a letter home to parents of students on Friday, April 21, warning them of the incident.
According to the letter, the girl was walking alone to a friend's house when the man pulled up along side her, rolled down his window and demanded that she get into his truck.
The incident happened at the corner of Main Street (Hwy 211) and Sweigle in downtown Molalla.
The man is described as possibly in his 30s with a goatee and short brown hair. He was driving a small black pickup truck, possibly a Ranger.
District Superintendent Tony Mann said the girl immediately returned to school to report the incident at the school's main office.
"She did the right thing," Mann said. "The middle school immediately reported the incident to Molalla Police and worked directly with the police."
The principal asked parents to help keep an eye on kids in the community.
Anyone who might know anything about this incident or see anything suspicious, is asked to call police.
