Molalla River School District Choral Director Tim Friesen and the Molalla High School Singing Christmas Tree team get excited every year about putting together a storyline for the production, meshing the music with a plot that hopefully comes together in an exciting evening for all who attend.
"Over the past few years we've traveled to Neverland, Oz, The North Pole, and most recently to a little boy's bedroom filled with hundreds of toys that come to life," Friesen said.
But this year, Friesen wants the community of Molalla to help select the theme for the Singing Christmas Tree.
Over the next two weeks, he is asking the community to submit ideas for a good plot for this year's musical production. From there, a selection committee will narrow down the choices and select a final winner. Then Friesen and his team will write a storyline around the winning plot.
The winner will receive complementary tickets to this year's Singing Christmas Tree production, as well as recognition in the program at the show.
There are certain limitations when it comes to copyright laws, so he is asking people to be creative, but not to procrastinate, as the deadline for all entries is March 24.
