Molalla woman named CCC top alumna
Distinguished Clackamas Community College alumna ShiloWittrock-Laccino, who overcame hardships to complete her transfer degree at CCC, will be honored as the colleges outstanding aluma during its graduation ceremony next week.
Wittrock-Laccino earned a bachelors degree and a master of social work degree at Portland State University and now works in her hometown of Molalla as a school social worker.
She is one of several students and community members who will be recognized for their achievements during CCC graduation ceremonies on Thursday, June 12, and Friday, June 13.
Wittrock-Laccino was nominated for the award by her former instructors and attended CCC from 2004-2009. She finished her two-year degree at CCC as an honor student, while raising her two children and working.
From Clackamas, Wittrock-Laccino was accepted into the competitive bachelor of social work program at Portland State University. After graduating with her bachelor's, she was accepted into the Advance Standing program at PSU and completed her master's of social work in one year.
Her educational goals included bringing her professional skills back to her home community of Molalla. She is now working in the Molalla River School District, heading the GROW Healthy Kids and Communities and Farm to School Program. The goal of which is to help get kids and families in the community healthy and active.
CCC graduation ceremonies begin June 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. in the Randall Gym. Tickets are not required, but seating in Randall Hall is limited, and doors will close when capacity is reached. Additional viewing will be available on campus in the McLoughlin Auditorium and the Community Center Mall.
