Molalla Warming Center in need of volunteers
The Molalla Warming Center is in dire need of volunteers for working the shifts during the night, said Leota Childress, chairwoman of the Molalla Warming Center. We've already been open 18 nights, and it looks like we've got about five nights this week. We've got a good six or more weeks of winter.
The shifts needing volunteers are evening (5:30 p.m. to 11:45 p.m.), night (11:30 p.m. to 4:15 a.m.), and morning (4 a.m. to 8 a.m.), she said.
The next training session is Thursday, Jan. 23, at 6:30 p.m., at St. James Parrish Hall.
The warming center provides shelter and a warm meal on winter nights where the temperature gets below freezing to homeless people in Molalla.
