Creekside Salon opens

Molallas new salon is hosting an open house on Friday, Oct. 4, from 5-8 p.m. Theyll offer five-minute massages, refreshments and a bit of music.

Hip To My Heart, a salon near Country Christian School, has changed ownership and gotten a new name. Cathie Munsey now runs Creekside Salon at the same location, just east of Country Christian School on Highway 211.by: CORY MIMMS - Cathie Munsey in front of her new shop, Creekside Salon.

Munsey worked at Hip To My Heart, and when she found out the store’s owner was going to close, Munsey was disappointed.

“I didn’t want to go somewhere else,” Munsey said.

That’s understandable. Milk Creek runs along the rear of the shop. Out front, water trickles into a small pond with six koi fish in it. It’s an idyllic setting.

So Munsey stayed. Hip To My Heart closed on Aug. 31 and Creekside Salon opened on Sept. 3.

“It’s bitter sweet,” Munsey said, because she enjoyed working with the owner of Hip To My Heart, but owning a salon was a dream of Munsey’s.

She loves her profession, she said. “I get to make people look good and feel good.”

Munsey’s daughter, Carmen Carlos, also works in the shop, along with one other employee. They offer all hair services, manicures and pedicures, as well as facials.

Their clients come from Molalla, Colton, Estacada, Canby and Portland.

At first, Munsey said, people may think the shop is too far away from them, but after their first visit most costumers say the drive is gorgeous.

This Friday, Oct. 4, Munsey will host an open house at the salon from 5-8 p.m. They’ll offer five-minute massages, refreshments and a bit of music.
