53-year-old Boris Bondarchuk disappeared while picking mushrooms along the Molalla River

53-year-old Boris Bondarchuk has been missing since he went picking mushrooms along the Molalla RiverA Molalla man has been missing since Monday, when he went out mushroom picking along the Molalla River.

Search and rescue crews from Multnomah and Clackamas counties have been looking for Boris Bondarchuk, 53, along the river, just off of South Family Camp Road. said Deputy Mark Nikolai of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Wednesday afternoon. The area is about 16 miles from Molalla in rugged country several miles off Sawtell Road.

The area where Bondarchuk is thought to have been last is comprised of dense wooded cover, steep mountain terrain and rivers which has made it difficult for continuing search and rescue efforts. Bondarchuck is familiar with the woods and has hiked that area often, Nikolai said.

Bondarchuk, however, was not carrying rain gear, or any serious protection against the heavy rain and wind that has been hitting the area.

Bondarchuk's daughter said her father speaks Russian. He is described as about 6-feet-tall, 190 pounds. She said he was wearing black pants and a black leather jacket when he set out to pick mushrooms Monday morning.

She said volunteers and friends were helping with the search.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team has sought the help of the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team, Mountain Wave Communications, Pacific NW Search and Rescue, North Oregon Regional Search and Rescue and the Marion County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue in the search for Bondarchuk.

Anyone who may have information about Bondarchuk is being asked to call the CCSO tip line at (503) 723-4949 and reference case #13-29157.
