Fresh paint at Heckard Field

Molalla High School’s locker room got a new look last week thanks to donations from Molalla Communications and the Molalla Booster Club.

The job was quoted at $8,000. However, Steve Neer, president of One Call Does It All, and Mike James, the company’s owner, offered to do the job at cost, which was $3,000.by: CORY MIMMS - Steve Neer at Heckard Field. Behind him, the locker rooms are still painted gray.

“I wanted to help out how I could,” Neer said. He and James fit the job in between other work and finished in time for Friday’s game against Stayton.

The Booster Club paid $1,500 of the paint, Molalla Communications donated $750, and the school district put in the remaining $750.by: CORY MIMMS - Mike James adds the final touches to the building's new paint job

“We were happy to support the community,” said Joshua Stefan, of Molalla Communications.

From drab gray to black and orange, the paint job now matches the rest of the stadium.

“It adds a little bit more character [to the field],” said Tyler Kelleher, the new athletic director. “We appreciate the efforts of those people involved. The community here really does a great job of supporting the district and the athletics. We appreciate their generosity.”
