Celebrating the Centennial


Molalla celebrated 100 years as an incorporated city with a birthday party Saturday at Fox Park.

by: PEGGY SAVAGE - Molalla Historical Society member Blanche Kober, who organized the party, sets out Molalla's 100th birthday cake (cupcakes) with her grandchildrenMore than 100 people showed up Saturday at Fox Park to celebrate the centennial for the city of Molalla.

Those present included citizens young and old, with kids enjoying a search in a haystack for treasure, and a variety of other games and activities.

by: PEGGY SAVAGE - Ace Hardware provided plenty of balloons for the eventCity Manager Dan Huff and Mayor Deborah Rogge, represented the city. Councilor Jason Griswold, represented the Molalla VFW Post 3973 and the Molalla City Council, with the VFW presented a flag ceremony at the beginning of the celebration. The Molalla Historical Society and members of the TEAM board of directors mixed with the crowd, as well as a smattering of local business people.

Entertainment included music provided by local groups, vendors offering everything from antiques to homemade jam, books and information from the Molalla Area Historical Society, people dressed in centennial garb, a speech from Mayor Deborah Rogge and cupcakes for everyone.
