City Council position open


Dennis Wolfe's retirement leaves his council seat vacant

by: PEGGY SAVAGE - Dennis Wolfe has stepped down from Molalla City Council for health reasons.Dennis Wolfe has been on the Molalla City Council two years.

“I love it,” he said. “We did some great things with the city.”

Wolfe, however, announced at a recent council meeting that he would have to retire from the position, due to health concerns.

“Rght now, with all the prescriptions and medical things in my life, I feel I can’t give 110 percent, which is what I promised the voters when elected,” he said last week. “Maybe someday down the road when I get things squared away, I will run for council again.”

Wolfe’s last day in office was around July 17. The city is now looking for applicants to fill his position on the council.

The position expires on Dec. 31, 2014. A new councilor for that position will be appointed by the city council.

Submit your application no later than 4 p.m. Aug. 6. The mayor and city council will review applicants with possible appointment at the regular council meeting set for 7 p.m. Aug. 14.

Qualification requirements are as follows:

The candidate must have resided inside the city limits for 12 months immediately before taking office.

The candidate must be a registered voter, qualifying as an elector under state law.

The candidate must not have any felony convictions, nor any crimes of moral turpitude.
