At its next meeting the AAUW Lake Oswego branch will learn about early Oswego women, including Lucy Pollard, from Nancy Dunis.

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) Lake Oswego branch will present Nancy Dunis in a presentation titled "Creating Community: Oswego Women," at 10 a.m. Oct. 14 at Oswego Heritage House. Dunis, who is the organization's program vice president, will focus on early Oswego pioneer women who made significant contributions to farming, business, education, culture and family. She will portray Lucy Pollard, one of Oswego's early pioneer women farmers. Other pioneer women featured include Lucia Bliss, Miranda Durham, Anne Shannon Monroe and Theresa Truchot.

She will also highlight the history of Oswego Heritage House and the Museum itself. Attendees will be able to visit the museum and view the current exhibit.

Dunis, a Lake Oswego native, currently serves on the board of the Oswego Heritage Council. She is passionate about Oswego history and writes "From the Vault," a monthly column on behalf of OHC for the Lake Oswego Review.

All are welcome to attend the meeting, which is free and open to all.

AAUW is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. The national organization was founded in 1881, and the Lake Oswego branch began in 1976.
