Willamette United Methodist has new service hours

Willamette United Methodist Church, located at 1683 Willamette Falls Drive in West Linn, will begin services an hour later at 10 a.m. starting on Sept. 10. They will celebrate with an outdoor worship service that includes a blessing of animals. Bring your pets and join in the special worship.

Attend Animal Aid's Pop-Up Pub Sept. 22

Plan to attend Animal Aid's Pop-Up Pub taking place from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 22 at Lagunitas Community Room, 237 N.E. Broadway, Suite 300 in Portland. The event is a benefit for Animal Aid, a nonprofit animal rescue and welfare organization. In addition to a free-roam shelter for cats and a foster program for cats and dogs, Animal Aid operates The Animal Aid Cares Fund, a partnership with local veterinary clinics to offer funding for urgent veterinary care; and C-SNIP (Canine Spay/Neuter in Portland) a partnership with PAW Team to provide spay/neuter assistance to homeless and extremely low-income residents. Attendees are invited to come eat pizza, drink beer or wine and play trivia to help animals. Tickets are $25 before Sept. 12, and $30 after that date and at the door.

Don't miss Overstock Sale at WL library

The Friends of West Linn Library will host an Overstock Book Sale Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 at the library, 1595 Burns St. Hundreds of fiction, non-fiction and children's books will be available for purchase; hardbacks are $1 each, paperbacks are 50 cents; children's books, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes and audiobooks are priced at 25 cents each. On Sunday, an entire bag of books is only $5.

Sale hours are 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Friday, and noon-4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Members of the Friends of the Library can shop 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday.

All proceeds benefit West Linn Library's special programs for children, teens and other events for adults.

Attend celebration for lower acres to White Oak Savanna

Neighbors for a Livable West Linn and Trust for Public Land are sponsoring a ribbon-cutting celebration marking the acquisition of the lower six acres of land for the White Oak Savanna's Natural Park and Natural Play Area, to be held at noon Sept. 30 at the White Oak Savanna, 2425 Tannler Drive in West Linn. Attendees are urged to bring a chair.
