Enter your car in the annual show at Old Time Fair
Wash and wax that beautiful car — this is your chance to show it off in the annual car show at West Linn's Old Time Fair.
West Linn Parks & Rec has arranged for Portland-based Xcessive Speedz Car Club to host the car show, taking place this year from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. July 15. More than 100 cars are expected to be on display, all of which will receive oohs and ahhs from appreciative viewers, and some will win prizes. Outdoor Adventures with NW DiscoveriesAre you considering taking up kayaking this summer? NW Discoveries is hosting two unique, local kayaking excursions in July. A trip on July 8 begins at 8:30 a.m. at Tualatin Community Park, 8515 S.W. Tualatin Road in Tualatin. The July 9 trip begins at 1 p.m. at Clackamette Park, 1955 Clackamette Drive, Oregon City. Youth SportsSkyhawks Sports Academy provides youth sports program where children discover and develop athletic skills and social values, such as teamwork, respect and sportsmanship. Starting July 5, running Wednesday through Friday, Skyhawks presents a number of camps to finish out the holiday week. Children ages 7-12 can sign up for basketball from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Children ages 6-12 can sign up for soccer camp from 9 a.m.-noon; also offered is beginning golf for ages 5-9.
Youth Drawing CampYoung Rembrandts presents Monsters, Creatures and Creeps — a light-hearted summer art workshop. Kids ages 5-12 will learn to draw and cartoon a variety of characters and even complete a large composition using pastels. They will learn to draw monsters of all shapes, sizes and colors. There are big monsters and little monsters; furry monsters and scaly monsters. If you can imagine a monster, we'll help you draw it. This camp is 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. July 10-13 at West Linn High School, 5464 W. A St., West Linn. Registration fee is $165.
Adult Dance ClassesJoin Dave Crandell and learn the rhumba; no experience necessary. This Thursday evening class starts at 7 p.m. July 6 continues through July 27. Registration fee for the class is $45 per person; partners are required.Cooking with Chef SurjaGet ready to produce the ultimate summer barbecue. Korean barbecue is a popular part of the Portland food scene offered by food carts and fine dining spots. Learn the secrets to making this exciting cuisine. Class includes making authentic marinades for beef, chicken and spicy pork. The class is $35 per person with $12 materials fee paid to instructor. Join us on July 16 at 10 a.m. at the Adult Community Center.
