Lake Oswego United Methodist Church’s outreach committee invites the community to join in a major effort to fill the shelves of the West Linn Food Pantry, which serves families from West Linn and Lake Oswego.

“The congregation has for several years provided Easter food boxes, which are adequate to feed a family of four one meal per day for a week,” said Barbara Stratton, a member of the congregation. “The church expects to fill 130 boxes which each contain approximately $40 word of selected food items, as well as two-pound bricks of cheese.”

Church members are encouraging the general public to help in the ministry this year. To receive an empty box to fill and a shopping list, call the church office at 503-636-6055. Those wishing to donate money to the project can mail checks to the church with “food box” in the memo line.

“Many parents will take their children with them when shopping to fill the Easter boxes,” Stratton said. “These outings teach kids tangible ways to care for others in a loving way.”

All boxes must be returned to the church by Palm Sunday, April 13. Church members will deliver the filled food boxes and checks to the West Linn Food Pantry at Willamette United Methodist Church.

Lake Oswego United Methodist Church is located at 1855 S. Shore Blvd., Lake Oswego, OR 97034.
