Dining for Women to meet Thursday

Dining for Women Southwest Chapter will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday for its monthly potluck and program at Lake Oswego United Church of Christ, 1111 Country Club Road in Lake Oswego. Topic of the program is “The Catalyst Foundation, Vietnam.” For more information, contact Catherine Myers at 503-999-8235.

The next meeting will be held Feb. 20 at the same place and time.

Learn about Boy Scouts program

Fifth-grade boys interested in learning about the Boy Scouts of American are invited to spend an evening with the members of Boy Scout Troop 432 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 21 and 28 at Lake Grove Presbyterian Church, 4040 Sunset Drive in Lake Oswego.

The troop has monthly camping trips and service projects. To learn more, attend either of the evening sessions or call Kate Firmin at 503-850-4321.

Free preparedness calendars available

The city of Lake Oswego has free 2014 calendars available that focus on topics to help prepare for the unexpected such as severe weather, floods or landslides, earthquakes and tsunamis. The calendar also includes a comprehensive list of public safety organizations and emergency contacts.

Day of service planned to honor MLK

Those interested in participating in a service project in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. can help clean up the garden at Robinwood Garden, 3706 Cedaroak St., West Linn, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 20. Mulching, weeding, invasive plant removel and more projects are planned, plus indoor projects.
