Winner will enjoy wireless listening

Lake Oswego Adult Community Center is holding a fundraising raffle. For just $2 a ticket, you could win a Sennheiser RF stereo TV wireless listening system. The TV listening system is ideally suited for wireless listening in your house or in your yard.

Whether you are watching a TV program or listening to sophisticated classical music, Set 840-TV is sure to provide excellent sound.

Just the push of a button sets the device to your personal listening preferences, providing you with the enjoyment of speech that is easier to understand.

The lightweight receiver is comfortable to wear because of its flexible ear pads. Ergonomic controls and visual feedback of certain operations make it easy to use and it can be connected directly to a TV or radio.

The retail value of this system is more than $280. Proceeds will go directly to the LOACC to support ongoing services to the community of Lake Oswego. Tickets can be purchased with cash at the front desk from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The raffle will be held Oct. 25 and the winner will be notified.

Call the center to register for classes and make lunch reservations at 503-635-3758. Lunch is $4 for those 60 and over; $5 for those under 60. This week’s activities include:

Friday, Sept. 13

Into to Mountain Lion class, 9 a.m. Learn about the desktop operating system with features to update your Mac. Cost is $10 for members, $15 others.

Learn to knit with Kat Riley. Bring size U.S. 8 needles and a skein of yarn. Cost is $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers. Registration is required.

The Rotary Club of Lake Oswego will serve lunch at noon. Entrée is braised cabbage.

Woodman Chronicles features “Sherlock Holmes in Washington” at 1 p.m.

Contemplate the birds from multiple perspectives of art, natural history, poetry, music, evolutionary theory and history of science. Six session series begins today at 1:30 p.m. Cost for members is $67 and all others is $100.

Monday, Sept. 16

The Happy Hikers group meets on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:15 a.m.

The computer users group meets in the Alder room from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

Lake Oswego Municipal Employees Association/AFSCME Local 1546 serves lunch at noon; entrée is pork with cranberry sauce.

Duplicate bridge offers tournament play competitive bridge at 1 p.m. Contact volunteer coordinator Jeanette Roberts at 503-620-5036.

Lower impact Zumba meets at 4 p.m. with Nani Berger.

Tuesday, Sept. 17

Classes include Body in Motion, gentle yoga and tai chi.

The Lake Oswego Respite Program begins at 11:30 a.m. in the Acorn room. The program costs $30 per participant each day, and is held both Tuesday and Thursday on an ongoing basis. Contact Berta Derman, human services supervisor, at 503-635-3758 to register for the program.

The Caregivers Group meets today in the Cedar room from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 18

United Methodist Church serves lunch at noon; entrée is curried chicken. Other activities include digital photo class, experienced pinochle and American mahjong.

Thursday, Sept. 19

Creative Hands meets at 9:30 a.m. The respite program is offered. Scrabble and bridge begin at 1 p.m. Argentine tango class begins at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $22 for members; all others pay $33.
