Lake Oswego, which won the District 4 crown and state championship at the 9/11 level last year, weren't going to let this year's District 4 championship get away.

Lake Oswego, facing previously unbeaten Murrayhill in the tournament championship at Tigard's Cook Park on Sunday, came through with a 5-3 victory that gave it the 2017 District 4 title.

Lake Oswego's team of 12 boys went 4-1 during the district tournament to earn another shot at state. Lake Oswego beat Wilsonville but lost to Murrayhill in pool play, then came back to rout Beaverton Aloha 34-0 in the quarterfinals, knocked off Tigard 7-2 in its semi, then took out Murrayhill for the tournament title.

The Oregon 9/11 state tournament is set for July 15-21 at Holland Youth Park, 390 Cordon Road N.E. in Salem. Lake Oswego will open the tournament with a game against the District 2 champion at 2 p.m. July 16; with a win there, Lake Oswego would face the winner of the District 3 vs. District 7 game in round two.

The Lake Oswego team is coached by manager Rand Smith, and assistant coaches Matt Krebs and Clay Bastian, and includes Campbell Smith, Mickey McClaskey, Matt Layne, Declan Francis, Noah Bastian, Finley Smith, Carsten Lowe, Karsten Krebs, Sam Trojan, Ryan Oliver, Charlie Goodwin and Max Brauner.
