Laker girls claim first Civil War tennis match


Lake Oswego's girls tennis team picked up a 7-1 victory in its rivalry match with Lakeridge last week. The Lakers recorded a sweep in doubles but three of the matches went to three sets in an exciting showdown between the teams.

Lake Oswego was stellar at the top of its singles line-up. Katie Day cruised 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Anna Meyer picked up an easy 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 2. Crystal Liu kept the Lakers momentum going with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles.

Lakeridge's Marie Kanapeaux got the Pacers on the board at No. 4 singles, winning a strong match 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles, Lake Oswego's top pairing of Caroline Dorman and Elle Meyer picked up a 6-4, 6-2 victory but all three of the other matches went to extra sets.

At No. 2 doubles, Lakeridge's team of Anna Seydel and Maris Bouc won the opening set 6-1 but Lake Oswego's Claire Murphy and Libby Dozois rallied to win the next two 6-1, 6-2.

Lake Oswego's Bridget Myers and Morgan Reno edged out the Pacers' Shea Northfield and Rileigh Hamilton 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 3 doubles and, at No. 4, the Laker team of Kaitlin Pataroque and Maia Lee nipped the Pacers' Analesa Fisher and Mackenzie Sandor 2-6, 7-6, 6-2.
