Lake Oswego Police arrested 11 motorists for driving under the influence in July — eight for alcohol-related DUII and three related to drugs — as part of a nationwide enforcement operation conducted during regular-duty patrols.
LOPD Lt. Doug Treat said the next national DUII enforcement operation is scheduled for the weeks leading up to Labor Day, from Aug. 18-Sept. 4, when officers all across the Portland metro area will be on the lookout for distracted and impaired drivers who may have overindulged.
Drivers arrested for DUII can be subject to a number of monetary fines, have their license suspended and spend time in jail.
"Stay safe, take care of your friends and family, find a designated driver if needed and keep others from driving if they appear impaired," Treat said. "Please act responsibly and drive sober."
