Leaking water pipe could have triggered the emergency
A landslide forced firefighters to evacuate a home on Meadows Drive in Lake Oswego Monday evening.
An attentive neighbor on Upper Cherry Lane alerted emergency responders after noticing a black hole in the side of a hill descending toward a home below, according to the Lake Oswego Fire Department.
It turned out to be a landslide, possibly triggered by a leaking water line between a meter on the street and a house in the 17400 block of Upper Cherry Lane, firefighters said.
In its wake, a fair amount of mud and debris was left pushed up against the side of the house on Meadows Drive and in its backyard.
The homeowner is staying with neighbors until the situation can be evaluated in daylight, the fire department reported.
