Lakeridge High DECA performs well at state
Lakeridge High School business teacher Richard Van Kaupp has announced the results for Pacers who competed Feb. 12-14 against more than 800 other Oregon students in a state DECA competition.
DECA, which includes high school and college divisions, has the mission of preparing leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. Lakeridge students excelled at the competition:
— Top 3 in testing were Grace O'Neil, Max Krueger, Ben McMullen (first in Marketing), Connor Schnapp (first in Hospitality), Mathew Ragsdale (first in Personal Finance) and Darcey Crumbleholme (third in Travel and Tourism).
— In Marketing Management Team Decision Making, the Lakeridge winners were Cole Lambo and Seba Marin-Quiros (back-to-back state champs); Albert Heape and Max Krueger (second place); and Karthik Sreedhar and Albert Wang, Cody Divers and Emmett Moore (finalists).
— In Hospitality Services Team Decision Making: Nicole Ferrie and Maddy Hubbard (state champs).
— In Sports and Entertainment Team Decision Making: Grace O'Neil and Parker Phillips (state champs).
— In Business Law and Ethics Team Decision Making: Cole Lambo and Albert Wang (second place); Anna Garrison and Kaylee McBride (finalists).
— In Travel and Tourism Team Decision Making: Darcey Crumbleholme and Nicole Ferrie (second place); Jeshua Corgan and Mary Gonzalez (finalists).
— In Advertising Campaign: Anna Garrison and Grace O'Neil (finalists).
— In Buying and Merchandising Team Decision Making: Eva and Ginger Harn (finalists).
— In Start Up Business Plan: Max Krueger (finalist).
— In Personal Financial Literacy: Mathew Ragsdale (finalist).
— In Food Marketing Series: Seba Marin-Quiros (finalist).
— In Hotel and Lodging Management: Nolan Mayfield (finalist).
