Lakeridge Junior High School’s team was victorious at the Oregon Junior Dance Team Championships, a Dance and Drill Coaches Association of Oregon event held April 5 at Clackamas Community College. The team also earned first in all regional competitions, said Brooke Mattern, who retired as head coach of the Pacer Dancer Program after the competition. Maggie Dieringer coaches the junior high dance team.

“Since starting the program two years ago, coach, Maggie and the team have maintained an undefeated record, winning nine consecutive times,” Mattern said. “One all star was also named from the team, Sydney Utech.”

All stars are dancers who distinguished themselves with their skills, and 10 are named out of the dancers who make it to state. About 300 dancers vie for all star status.

The Junior Laker Dance Team did not compete at state this year but earned second place last year.
