CCC shares calendar of events

Clackamas Community College is hosting several events in May and invites the public to attend. The events are free, unless noted otherwise. Clackamas Community College’s main campus is located at 19600 Molalla Ave., Oregon City.

International Celebration, Saturday through May 1. This year’s theme is Celebrating Peace Corps Volunteers. The celebration opens at 10 a.m. Saturday in room 119 of Niemeyer Center on the main campus. The event features music, dance, art and cultural displays. For more information, call 503-594-3403.

Lights! Camera! MOCAP! An evening showcasing film and media in Clackamas County. This event celebrates the rollout of a new design and renewed vision of the CCC cable channel. Event begins at 6 p.m. in the Gregory Forum on the Oregon City campus and includes a demonstration of the digital media communication program’s motion capture system.

CRT Play Reading Series: “Don’t Go Gentle” Clackamas Repertory Theatre’s play reading series, Sundays at Three, concludes with “Don’t Go Gentle,” by Stephen Belber, directed by Annie Rimmer. Show begins at 3 p.m. in the Osterman Theatre on the Oregon City campus. Tickets are $10 online at clackamasrep.org or at the box office. Call 503-594-6047 for more information.

Water Wednesday Spring Community Fair. Community members and groups, college staff, student clubs and vendors share information and products during this fair. Event runs 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 7 in the Community Center of the main campus.

Spring term theater production, May 22 through June 1. Show title to be announced. Shows run Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. in Osterman Theatre in the Niemeyer Center on the main campus. Purchase tickets online at theatreccc.org or call 503-594-3153.

Behind the scenes tour of spring term mainstage production. Walk the catwalks, take a behind-the-scenes tour and discover the magic of the spring theater production. Tour runs 4:30 to 6 p.m. May 29. No cost, but RSVP is required. Call Kelly at 503-594-3153.

Spring Student Performance Showcase. May 27 through 29, enjoy student directed one act plays, standup comedy and comedy improve. Performances are held noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday with an additional performance at 7:30 p.m. May 28 in the Osterman Theatre in the Niemeyer Center on the main campus.

English Department’s Mark Twain Fundraising Dinner. The English department is holding its annual fundraising dinner beginning at 7 p.m. May 30 in the Gregory Forum at the Oregon City campus. Compose Writing Workshop. The Compose Creative Writing Conference will take place on the Oregon City campus on May 31. Workshops include fiction, poetry, playwriting, memoir, comics, songwriting, creative nonfiction, digital storytelling, grammar and publishing. The cost is $10 for CCC students and $15 for the general public. Lunch will be available for an additional $10. Registration opens to the general public May 1.
