New salon conversation series to begin at Marylhurst

by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Deborah Walker, MAIS alum, will open A-MAIS-ing Voices, a new salon conversation series at Marylhurst University.

A-MAIS-ing Voices, a new Salon Conversations Series, will present Deborah Walker from 10 a.m. to noon April 12 in the Clark Commons Willow room at Marylhurst University.

The event is sponsored by the Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (MAIS) program at the university.

The series is described as “part teach-in and part salon conversation, with time to make new connections and renew existing ones.”

Walker, a MAIS 2013 alum and artist, will speak on the topic “Well-being by Design,” how making things with one’s hands can inspire an innate creativity, a spiritual awakening and a sense of well-being within one’s body, mind and soul.

A hands-on workshop will be included in this salon to illustrate the tangible effects of well-being by design.
