Cultural events planned at L&C

Lewis & Clark College is hosting a variety of cultural events which the public is invited to attend. The events are free, unless noted otherwise. Lewis & Clark College is located at 0615 Palatine Hill Road in Portland.

International Fair — The international students invite the public to the 49th annual international fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 1 in Templeton Student Center on campus. Sample delicacies such as Bulgarian moussaka, biryani and Kahlua pork, view fashions from around the world and enjoy dance, music and more performed by students. Brunch fee is $8 for adults, $4 for children. Performances are free.

Molly Antopol reads — Author Molly Antopol, a Wallace Stegner Fellow and recipient of the National Book Foundation 5 Under 35 award, will read from her debut story collection, “The UnAmericans” at 7 p.m. March 3 in Frank Manor House. The reading is free.

Gender Studies Symposium — The 33rd annual Gender Studies Symposium will be held March 5 through 7 in various locations on campus. The symposium explores the relationship between where we are and who we are; attendees are invited to engage with students, scholars, activists, community leaders and artists in thinking about relationships of gender, sexuality and power in the locations where we find ourselves.

“As You Like it” — This production of Shakespeare’s pastoral romp through the forest of Arden will use contemporary performance techniques to excavate the play’s relationship to the audience. Using music, dance and a physical relationship to text, “As You Like it” will reimagine Shakespeare for a contemporary audience. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 7, 8, 13 and 14 and 2 p.m. March 9 and 15 on the Fir Acres Main Stage Theatre. General admission tickets are $10, senior price is $7.
