Lewis & Clark College events set

A series of cultural events are planned at Lewis & Clark College, located at 0615 SW Palatine Hill Road in Portland. The public is invited to attend the events, which are free unless noted otherwise.

Fireside chat with Allan Vermeulen of Amazon.com

In this inaugural fireside chat to be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 31, Michael Kaplan, managing director of the Center for Entrepreneurship, will talk with Amazon.com’s Allan Vermeulen about his involvement in cloud computing and what it really means to be entrepreneurial, even in a big company.

Kaplan will also ask his guest what he wishes he had studied in college, what Amazon.com looks for in employees and what he thinks work may look like in the future. A reception follows the presentation from 7:30 to 8 p.m.

Fall Philosophy Colloquium Series

The Fall Philosophy Colloquium Series continues at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 31 in J.R. Howard Hall, Room 202. Kristen Intemann from Montana State University will speak.

Matthew Slater from Buckness University will present Feb. 26 and Daniel Kelly from Purdue University will present March 14.

“Dhwani: A Night of Indian Classical Music”

Manu Srivastava will perform “Dhwani: A Night of Indian Classical Music” at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 31 in Evans Hall. Srivastava has established himself as one of the premier vocalists and teachers of North Indian classical music in the United States. Tickets are $20 general admission.
