Enter One Hundred Years of Flowers: A Standard Flower Show

Entries are being sought for West Linn’s One Hundred Years of Flowers: A Standard Flower Show to be held at the West Linn Public Library this weekend, Aug. 17 and 18. by: SUBMITTED - Entries in the West Linn Garden Clubs show should be based upon the theme of One Hundred Years of Flowers: A Standard Flower show.

Hosted by the West Linn Garden Club, the show includes floral design and horticulture categories.

Entries may be brought to the West Linn library on Friday, Aug. 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. or Saturday, Aug. 17. from noon to 1 p.m. All entries should reflect the theme of the show, One Hundred Years of Flowers.

Floral design categories include Pioneer Garden (mass design); Roaring Twenties (creative and flashy design); Modern Garden (line design) and Fairy Garden (small flowers up to 8 inches in height).

Horticultural entries of a single significant stem with leaves attached should be of one of these designated plants: flowering shrubs, annuals, perennials, bulbs, leaves, Oregon native plants or culinary herbs.

Judging will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place in each category.

A plant sale will be held at Maddax Woods during the show. Hostas, hellebores, various perennials, sedums and other plants from garden club members’ gardens will be for sale.

Participants may collect containers and entries on Aug. 18 between 3 and 5 p.m.
