Synergize your oral health & total well-being

LAKE GROVE DENTAL - Charles Braden, DMDEvery New Year, with best intentions, we think about fresh starts, and as spring arrives, so does the feeling of organizing and straightening out our lives. The furniture in our reception area had survived almost 20 years of use, and with a little help from Costco, we are now pleased with our freshened space and new furniture.

With all the new information breaking about how the condition of our mouths is tied to our general health and the simple way in which we can now detect bacteria levels in the mouth, it is a great time to reevaluate how you care for your teeth and gums.

We were visited by a patient recently who hadn't been to the dentist since 2010. She presented with a medical history that included heart disease and diabetes.

It was no surprise that her teeth were filled with decay. Typically, we find people with these medical conditions tend to have high bacterial levels in their mouth and a dry mouth condition, known as xerostomia, from the medications they require to stay alive. We immediately started her on a treatment to reduce the bacteria and she is scheduled to return in a few days to start the cleaning process and then properly assess what else should be done to restore her dental health.

Life is made up of choices; choose to care for yourself. We make no judgments. Our wish is to help our patients thrive and smile with confidence and in good health.
