Fall sports season swinging into high gear

The summer is officially over with the first games of the fall season looming this week

Fall is not quite in the air yet, but fall sports are about to enter full swing.

The first day of practice for Hillsboro-area high school sports was last Monday, and many teams are gearing up for their first contests of the young season before the week is out — in fact, some already started with contests and jamborees yesterday.by: HILLSBORO TRIBUNE PHOTO: CHASE ALLGOOD - Glencoe football players run a drill during practice on Tuesday afternoon. The Crimson Tide will open their season tonight at home against Dallas.

All four area high school football teams will be in action tonight, and one game pits two of them against each other. Hillsboro travels across town to take on Liberty at 7 o’clock this evening.

Glencoe hosts its season opener, against Class 5A Dallas, at the same time at Hare Field.

Century is the only gridiron team to hit the road for its 2013 debut, though the Jaguars do not have far to travel to take on former Metro League foe Beaverton.
