Hillsboro plans open house on new service fees

The city has scheduled an April 24 open house to discuss a planned increase in fees for utility services.

A service delivery study was recently undertaken to assess the costs to provide services for the city’s sanitary sewer collection and surface water management programs. Based on this study, a proposed local service fee is being considered by the Hillsboro City Council.

For a single family residential customer the proposed fee increase would be as follows: $2.50 per month for sanitary sewer service; $1 per month for surface water management; or $3.50 per month for the two services combined.

The meeting will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hillsboro Main Library’s Community Room.

The city provides a list of frequently asked questions about the proposed fees at the following website: Hillsboro-oregon.gov/LocalServiceFee.
