Drunk driver runs into deputy on DUII patrol
A Washington County Deputy Sheriff's deputy suffered minor injuries when his patrol car was struck by a DUII driver Saturday morning.
The name of the deputy, who was treated and released from an area hospital, was not immediately available.
Alfredo Losoya, 25 from Gervais, was arrested for DUII.
Ironically, the deputy, assigned to the Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Team, was working a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration sponsored DUII shift.
According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, at around 1:27 a.m. on Dec. 7, the deputy was driving westbound on SW Tualatin Valley Highway when a 2007 Chevrolet Impala drove into his path one block west of Southwest 185th Avenue in the community of Aloha.
The Impala, driven by Losoya, pulled onto TV Highway from a parking lot. The deputy was unable to avoid the collision which separated the Impala's front bumper from the vehicle The patrol vehicle received minor damage to the right front bumper.
Deputies suspected that Losoya was under the influence of alcohol and requested the Hillsboro Police Department to assist with the investigation. The investigation revealed that Losoya was drinking alcohol at a bar located at 18641 S.W. TV Highway prior to the crash.
