TROUTDALE — Reynolds came into their season opener against The Dalles on Wednesday night knowing that this would be the first time that much of their team would see important varsity minutes. With the exception of forward Kiandre Hewett, not a single player on the nine-man roster was in the rotation last season.

That inexperience hurt the Raiders down the stretch in this one.

After taking a 20-17 lead into halftime, Reynolds gave up 24 points in the third quarter and would end up falling to The Dalles 54-47.

Riverhawks guard Dakota Murr torched the Raiders for a game-high 26 points — including 14 in the third quarter. Cal Reiss and Kobe Joseph had 11 points each. Hewett chipped in with nine points and nine rebounds.

"I just thought our guys looked a little bit nervous," Reynolds head coach Ted Aubin said. "We were a little tight and not following through on our shots…The main thing was in the third quarter when we lost (Murr). He had 26 points and that was the difference in the game."
