by: THE OUTLOOK: PARKER LEE - Mt. Hoods Teauna Hughes slides back into second base during the teams 10-6 win over Lower Columbia in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday. The Mt. Hood CC softball team was in a state of shock before Tuesday’s doubleheader against Lower Columbia even began. Starting third baseman Chelsea Spanier suffered an ankle injury in warm-ups and her teammates had to watch her leave the park on crutches.

The thought of their ailing teammate occupied the Saints’ attention early on in Game 1 and they slipped into a quick 6-1 hole. It took a few innings for them to get their minds right, but the Saints rallied and unleashed an unprecedented display of power.

Mt. Hood responded by smashing seven home runs en route to a 10-6, come-from-behind victory. The Saints won the second game 4-3 to sweep the doubleheader to start the league schedule, while improving to 16-0 on the season.
