Reynolds scores 29 straight points in the first half to down Hood River

by: THE OUTLOOK: DAVID BALL - Reynolds Alejandra Bates looks to make an inbounds pass to teammate Jayden Blaylock during the Raiders 57-19 win over Hood River on Thursday. Blaylock led the charge with 17 points. After seeing Hood River knock down the first two shots of the game, the Reynolds girls went on a 29-point run to blow out the Eagles 57-19 in the first round of the Gresham holiday tournament Thursday.

The Raiders Elle Stanfill and Mackenzie Pettingill each connected on 3-pointers during the burst, while center Jayden Blaylock was unstoppable with seven baskets coming from in near the hoop all the out to a step inside the 3-point line.

Reynolds carried a 20-point lead throughout the second half and ended a six-game slide with the victory.

The Raiders (2-6) face Milwaukie (1-4) in the semifinals at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

The Mustangs beat Barlow 52-36 in the first round. The Bruins cut it to a one-possession game late in the third quarter, but Milwaukie never lost its grip on the lead, putting it out of reach with a seven-point run to start the fourth quarter.

Milwaukie stayed on the attack with Chloe Hester converting a series of baskets that stretched the lead to double digits as the clock rolled under a minute.
