Reynolds High School Theater performs 'The Diviners'

Reynolds High School, 1698 S.W. Cherry Park Rd, Troutdale, will perform "The Diviners" at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Feb 24 & 25. "The Diviners," written by Jim Leonard, Jr., revolves around the story of Buddy Layman, a boy from the fictional Indiana town of Zion who has an intellectual disability and whose kind nature touches the lives of those he meets. Set in the depression era '30s, the play traces the tragic misunderstanding between the boy and a visitor to the town who attempts to lift Buddy's fear of water.

Instructor's work showcased at MHCC gallery

Mt. Hood Community College's Visual Arts Gallery, 26000 S.E. Stark St., Gresham, is exhibiting the work of MHCC painting instructor Matteo Neivert. The exhibition, called "Reflections in the Mind's Eye," runs during regular gallery hours from Feb. 6 through Mar. 2, with a reception at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9. Neivert's work is surreal and whimsical and explores themes relating to man's connection to nature.
