Car enthusiasts rejoice — Gresham's popular Rockin' Round the Block car show will soon be returning to the streets of downtown.

The 19th annual event will feature classic cars and hot rods competing in several classes, as well as live music, food vendors, kids' activities, door prize drawings and awards. Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the grand opening is at 9:50 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12.

The event has brought together car lovers and eye-popping stock, modified, custom cars, trucks and motorcycles since 1998. Proceeds from the event benefit the scholarship fund for automotive students at Mt. Hood Community College.

Music will be performed by Ron Ruedi & The Hurricanes. Visitors can check out the vendor row for car-related merchandise, have their face painted, or enter a raffle. Throughout Rockin' Round the Block there will be more than 50 awards and trophies given out.
