COURTESY PHOTO - The Mt. Hood Mustangs and Fords club show at Mt. Hood Community College will feature some wild mustangs. Vintage car buffs will have a lot to see at the third-annual Cruise the College car show Sunday at Mt. Hood Community College.

The day will also feature food, music by the Cruisin' Tunes and a raffle, as well as all those beautifully restored cars and trucks. Sponsored by Gresham Ford, the show runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 16, at the college, 26000 S.E. Stark St.

The show is organized by Mt. Hood Mustangs and Fords club and is free for those ogling the cars and enjoying the music.

The raffle proceeds will benefit My Father's House, a Gresham-based shelter for homeless families, and Oregon Impact safe driving education.

COURTESY JOHN WILSON - This lovingly restored Corvette will be on display at the event at Mt. Hood Community College. There are 45 vehicle trophies up for grabs, including awards for the best custom cars and trucks, nicest Ford and General Motors muscle cars, coolest low riders and the best of show.

The fee for showing a car is $15. A portion of the show receipts will support the Ford Automotive Student Service Educational Training (ASSET) program at MHCC.

Stark Street is closed for improvements for a section between Kane Drive and South Troutdale Road. Those headed eastbound can still use the Stark Street entrance to the college, but westbound drivers will have to follow the detours.

"Cruise-ins like this are a great opportunity for people to get together and enjoy cars and each other's company," said Ann Clack, an 18-year member the car club. "People are really proud of the cars and trucks they put on display at these events. You get to see a little bit of history, which is neat."
