Days for Girls team schedules work party

The community is invited to join members of the Boring Days for Girls group for a sewing event from 12:30-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 24510 Highway 212, in Damascus.

The group is part of Days for Girls International, a nonprofit organization committed to providing reproductive health awareness and sustainable feminine hygiene necessities to young girls and women.

Nationwide, volunteers with Days for Girls have sewn washable, reusable shields, liners and hygiene product bags that have been distributed to more than 100,000 women and girls in 75 nations on six continents.

Sewing experience and your own sewing machine are helpful but not required to participate.

The group also accepts donations of girls' underwear, travel-sized bars of soap, washed cotton or flannel fabric (no prints, white or light colors, please) and dark colored washcloths.
