Gresham Rhythmettes win championship

Barlow places third, Centennial takes fourth


by: OUTLOOK PHOTO: BRIAN MONIHAN - The Gresham High Rhythmettes dance and drill team took first place in the 6A large schools category at the OSAA 2014 State Dance and Drill competition with an overall score of 83.61.It takes a lot of hard work to get there, but all that sweat and practice paid off for the Gresham High Rhythmettes dance and drill team when it claimed first place at the recent state competition.

Held March 19-22 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland, the Oregon School Activities Association 2014 Dance & Drill competition included more than 50 Oregon high schools.

by: OUTLOOK PHOTO: BRIAN MONIHAN - The Rhythmettes gave it their all this year with hours of practice and workouts. Their hard work paid off with a first-place victory at state.The Rhythmettes scored 83.61 points in the 5A/6A large school competition, followed by Tigard, Lincoln and West Albany.

Barlow High’s dance and drill team placed third in the 6A intermediate category with 82.25 points, and Centennial High placed fourth in the 6A small school competition with 76.33 points.
