Armed suspect causes homecoming dance to go into lock-in mode
Dance to be rescheduled after Reynolds High School parents told not to pick up students while they are locked in school due to search for armed person
The Reynolds High School homecoming dance was canceled Friday night and the school put into lock-in mode following reports of an armed person in the neighborhood.
As police searched the area near the school to apprehend the suspect, District Spokeswoman Andrea Watson issued a press release at 9:27 p.m. stating, "Until the police give us the all clear, we can not unlock the doors and let parents in to retrieve students. We will announce when the police give us the all clear."
At 9:54 p.m. another update came through: "ALL CLEAR! Dance is cancelled for tonight and will be rescheduled."
Parents are free to pick up their children, but students who drove themselves to the dance are driving themselves home, Watson said.
Watson had no details on whether or not the suspect was apprehended by Troutdale police.
