Northwest Youth Corps accepts applications

The nonprofit organization Northwest Youth Corps that puts teens to work outdoors is recruiting teenagers 16 to 19 for a five-week session beginning Sept. 14.

Upon completion of the Eugene-based program, teens earn an education stipend, the opportunity to gain high school credit and the ability to obtain a future job reference or letter of recommendation.

Centennial board kicks off school year with retreat

Centennial School District is holding its board retreat from 3-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at the district office board room.

The event will cover goals; the district's new accountability system; evaluation process; district equity work; long-range facilities planning; a policy update briefing; and future agenda items.

The next board work session is Wednesday, Sept. 11, and the next regularly scheduled meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 25.
