Sean Patrick Stebbins, 35, and Mark Alan Romero, 22, both of Gresham, are being held on allegations of second-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary at the Multnomah County Detention Center on $10,000 bail each.Gresham police at 4:07 a.m. Monday, May 20, responded to an audible alarm that monitors a roof hatch at the Bi-Mart in the 2800 block of Northeast Hogan Drive, said Detective John Rasmussen, Gresham Police spokesman.

The first officer to arrive saw a man running from the area. With help from Troutdale, Fairview, a Portland canine unit and the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, police found two men hiding in separate locations within two blocks of the store. With the suspects taken care of, police called on Gresham Fire & Emergency Services, which used its ladder truck to lift officers to the store's roof. There they were able to determine the suspects had tried to break into the building.

"Unlike the officers, Stebbins and Romero gained access to the rooftop by scaling a wall — an ill-advised endeavor," Rasmussen said.

Anyone with more information about the case is asked to call the Gresham Police tip line at 503-618-2719 or 1-888-989-3505.
