Viking girls varsity tennis coach TJ Buehler plans summer programs for ages 12 and up

PAMPLIN MEDIA PHOTO - Forest Grove's Mitch Faris hits a shot during the past season's OSAA 6A State Tennis Championships. Viking girls varsity tennis coach TJ Buehler will be putting on a handful of tennis clinics this summer.Tennis in "the Grove" summer tennis clinics are back.

The Forest Grove High School Tennis program will run weekly intermediate-to-advanced skill tennis clinics beginning Monday, June 26. The focus will be on kids ages 12 and older who already possess tennis skills and want to further advance their skill for competing at the high school level. This would include current high school tennis players, as well as Junior High players who have had some previous tennis instruction/experience.

"The camp is designed for those athletes who already possess some tennis skills and who seek a more rigorous, intense focus on improving," said Forest Grove head varsity women's coach and summer instructor TJ Buehler. "Drills and match-play simulations will be faced-paced and are designed to improve footwork, agility, technique, and developing more pace on the ball."

Buehler believes wholeheartedly that improvement at any level is dependent upon continued instruction and practice, and attributes much of his team's recent success to participation in their summer activities.

The weekly clinics run Monday through Friday, 3-5pm, at the Forest Grove High School tennis courts. There will be four weeks of clinics, concluding Friday, July 21st. Registrants can sign up for one or more weeks, and the cost is $50 per week, per registrant. A twenty-percent discount is awarded to players who sign up for all four weeks.
