Race fundraiser next weekend

The Forest Grove Classic road race is slated for next Saturday, March 22, in Forest Grove.

The event includes 5- and 10-kilometer runs and walks that will start and finish at Forest Grove High School. Vikings senior Derek Evers is staging the run for his high school senior project, and proceeds from the event will go to the school’s Sparrow Club, a nonprofit that aids children and families with medical needs.

Registration will take place from 7 to 8:45 a.m. on race day. The fee is $10.

The out-and-back course is fairly flat and will take place primarily in residential areas and along the B Street Trail. Race personnel will be stationed at intersections to control traffic.
