Theatre in the Grove spoof stars musical monster and master

by: COURTESY PHOTO: THEATRE IN THE GROVE - Frederick (Stevo Clay) attempts to kiss his fiance Elizabeth (Jodi Coffman) goodbye, but she wants no hanky-panky until their wedding day.Transylvania mania is taking over Theatre in the Grove this weekend with an adaptation of Mel Brooks’ 1974 musical comedy film, “Young Frankenstein.”

The festive show features spooky special effects and musical favorites such as, “The Brain,” “Please Don’t Touch Me,” “He Vas My Boyfriend” and “Transylvania Mania.” Also listen up for “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” easily identified by tap dancing monsters.

This parody of the classic 1930s horror film features natives Jodi Coffman as Elizabeth, Zachary Centers as Igor, and Pruella Centers as Frau Blucher. Stevo Clay, who played McMurphy in last season’s “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” transforms into the mad doctor, while Hillsboro Police Department spokesman Mike Rouches plays Inspector Kemp alongside fellow Theatre in the Grove newcomer Carly Wasserstein.

Stop by and see the show Oct. 18 through Nov. 3. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m.; Sundays at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are $14 for adults, and $12 for seniors and youths. Tickets are available online or at the door one hour before each performance.
