Vasquez will share her unique versions of Mexicos traditional Folklor when she performs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 at the Walters Cultural Arts Center, 527 E. Main St. in Hillsboro. The guitarist and singer performs a variety of songs from many Latin American genres, including mariachi, folk, rock and alternative. Raised in Jalisco, Vazquez moved to the U.S. at age 17 to begin performing and gained some national exposure. Now living in Portland, Vasquez performs with a quartet and sometimes whistles her melodies to complement the guitar. She also writes some of her own music. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 day of show.
