Former Forest Grove residents serve in U.S. Military
Pacific University graduate and U.S. Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Chantal K. Cruz graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Cruz earned a bachelor's degree in 2015 from Pacific.
Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Lt. Cmdr. John Perry
Forest Grove native and 1999 Forest Grove High School graduate John Perry is serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.
Perry is a pilot for Wing 10, which supports troops and delivers real-time intelligence and surveillance information among other things, according to an article by American Connections Media Outreach. He flies the P-3C Orion, a land-based, long-range anti-submarine warfare patrol aircraft. The P-8A, a modified Boeing airframe, will soon replace the P-3
