Traffic between Holladay and Adair streets will be rerouted Aug. 14 to Dec. 12

Starting next week, 10th Avenue between Holladay and Adair streets in Cornelius will be closed until December.

Washington County staff will be widening the road and making safety improvements Aug. 14 to Dec. 12. Through traffic will be detoured to 4th Avenue via Holladay, Adair and Baseline streets. Local access will be maintained.

The project includes:

- Widening 10th Avenue to one travel lane in each direction with an intermittent center turn lane

- Continuous bike lanes

- ADA compliant sidewalks

- "Bulb out" curb extensions, similar to those on Baseline Road

- Storm water pipes, detention and water quality treatment facilities

- Street lighting, striping, signage and traffic signal replacement

This $8 million project is funded through Washington County's Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP).
