Stories on Cornelius electrical service, economic report erred last week

- A story in the March 1 News-Times, "Mayors say Forest Grove, Cornelius in good shape," incorrectly stated that Forest Grove Mayor Pete Truax said Forest Grove residents pay 60 percent less for their electrical services than the average power consumer in neighboring areas. He actually said Forest Grove residents pay 60 percent of what Portland General Electric customers pay.

- Another March 1 story, "Cornelius commission chooses priorities for economic development," incorrectly stated that commission members chose seven priorities when in fact they simply evaluated and confirmed the already proposed priorities in the city's Economic Opportunities Analysis.

In addition, Cornelius and Forest Grove are classified as "distressed," not "disadvantaged" communities.

The planning commission unanimously approved the plan Feb. 28 and the Cornelius City Council will consider it March 20.
